Pearls of wisdom
Humankind “they say” slid out of the ocean several million years ago ever since then we have been attracted to its silvery shores. The ocean is an essential part of our lives and affects us every day whether we live on the beach or thousands of miles away.
Beads made from shells are a reminder of that connection; I guess the ultimate version of that connection is the pearl. Pearls are formed over time as a protection against an irritation-wow now that’s some band-aid. Pearls and mother of pearl have a unique luster or nacre that has yet to be reproduced by the vulgar likes of plastic or glass.
The shiny hemisphere of a pearl bead is mesmerizing, cool and warm shadows dance on its deep luminous surface- a kind of ocean that calls to us and reminds us of our humble origins, a lot of thought provoking ideas from a simple pearl bead-no wonder I love beads so much
