Beads are a connection to our past that cannot be denied. Some of the earliest human artifacts found in burial sites are beads. Beads have come down from the ages as a thread stringing all of out unique cultural histories together
Europeans would seem the least likely to have this beaded past-not true. Beads were manufactured in Europe very early on, the Romans partook in a very active trade in beads with their wares reaching as far as the ancient Far East.
Central America, Asia, Africa, Australia, North America and the whole world all traded beads from a very early time. Beads were commonly used as a form of currency not only in the Americas but in Africa and Asia as well. Today, beads are enjoying a renaissance unparalleled in the last hundred years. Perhaps it is our desire to re-connect with our beaded past.
