To bead or not to bead

To bead or not to bead that is the question- it’s a question that I have asked myself a lot. Why am I so absorbed with beading, when not beading seems to go well with millions of people, but ahhh the pleasure of stringing a bead and creating something new from a small collection of round and various shaped objects with holes through them joined together like a family. Sometimes the resemblance between siblings is striking. At other times one wonders how such a group could ever have sprung from the same parents.

I think for me the mystery and beauty of beading is that the sum of so many small parts really does make the hole. Our bodies are made of collections of DNA strands. We are also strung like beads; our whole is defined by the sum of so many small strands.

For me, beading is a metaphor for so many things- even life itself. I guess that is why I really am a beading nut. I can look at things that have no bearing really to beading and yet I manage to find beads and beading strung in their meaning.
